I really love flowers especially in Spring a sign that the bright evenings and good weather is on the way.
For me just growing flowers is missing a trick.
Some of the fruit trees out there have beautiful flowers like Feijoa (Acca Sellowiana), Baya Marisa or Belvedere house apple, Peach trees, Saskatoon, Nanking Cherry etc.
My wife's favorite tree is cherry blossom and it really is a striking tree but it blossoms for a little while and is pretty much done for the year.A sweet cherry tree will have beautiful blossoms but will also produce tasty fruit which can feed birds, foxs, insects and humans.I know which one makes more sense to me.
In a time when farmers and government bodies are talking about food shortages I think it would be prudent to start planting some fruit and nut trees.
